A month ago, I went on a last-minute vacation with my boyfriend.  It was the perfect timing since I was leaving my 9-5 job and we both needed a break of the winter and work! My boyfriend, SP, came up with a couple of hotels to choose from and our final choice was the Dominican Republic at the VH Atmosphere adults only resort. Let’s say the adults only was super tempting and the images and reviews of the hotel sold us.

Three days later we were on our way to Puerto Plata! It wasn’t my first time there. I went on vacation to Puerto Plata when I was 13 years old! Fun fact: The first time we walked to the beach, we ended up by mistake at the hotel I stayed at when I was a teenager, crazy! I felt super nostalgic!

The Hotel

If you need a relaxing and quiet vacation, this is the perfect hotel! No kids, only adults! That was a major plus! The coffee shop was also a nice addition. On our way to the buffet for breakfast, we would stop by the coffee shop and grab an Americano. Other times, we’d stop by for the cookies and we seriously got addicted to them!

If you’re a blogger/influencer, the aesthetic is perfect and very instagrammable!

We upgraded to Royal members towards the end of our vacation and got access to a private (& super quiet) pool and vintage club lounge with a selection of international alcohols. We also had access to the private beach club and got to relax on a beach bed while being served by a waiter. That was the perfect setup!

Our room hotel was the honeymoon suite, it was a spacious room which included a small walk in and an outdoor bathtub. As soon as we arrived at the room, SP undressed himself and jumped in it with a book!

The Beach

The beach is a 5-min walk and there’s a private beach club for the hotel on the beach strip. We went for a long walk on the beach walking for an hour back and forth. We tried to get a little exercise here and there instead of working out at the gym. We also preferred taking advantage of the warm weather and go for a jog outside in the morning. Playa Dorada is on the Dominican Republic’s north coast and several all-inclusive resort are situated along this beach and this area is safe (there’s a gate at the entrance) to take a walk or run outside of the resort.

Restaurants & Bar

The service at this hotel was 5 star. The management and staff care a lot about you and want to make sure you’re having an amazing stay. The service is also personalized since it’s a small hotel and you get to see the same employees; you create a relationship with them over the course of your vacation.

There’s also a cigar lounge/Italian restaurant on the site called Tee Off Cigar Lounge Cucina by Stefy & Natale. They built it in 12 days and that place is stunning! Especially the bathrooms, you’re walking on glass on top of a garden. We were craving Italian food and ordered a pizza and gnocchi one night! It was delicious!

Our drink of choice was “Ginebra con aqua con gas y limon verde”. If you’re looking to drink with fewer calories as possible, this is the drink! It helped to not pack too many calories during the day and it’s sugar-free too!

We also visited the sister luxury boutique hotel Casa Colonial right next to it. We went there for dinner and lunch twice. There’s also the Bagua Spa. We had a couples massage and access to the sauna/steam bath. You get 15% off if you’re a Royal member at VH Atmosphere resort. I highly recommend it, the massage was amazing! The dinner at Casa Colonial was also delicious. It’s in an intimate decor and felt like we were having a real romantic date.

This vacation trip was fantastic, I would definitely recommend VH Atmosphere adults only resort & beach club if you’re seeking a quiet and relaxing vacation with good food! Don’t forget to bring all the books you need to read!
